Welcome to the third edition of Empties, where I take you through my recent collection of finished skincare and beauty products. Here, I'll explain what I liked and if I would purchase them again. For your awareness, I have dry skin and also suffer from eczema. Lastly, before anyone has a go at me for 'publicly slandering a brand,' (yes, this has actually happened before) these are my personal opinions published on my personal platform and take them as such.
Oh My Cream cream cleanser – I just felt like this didn’t give me a thorough clean, and almost felt a bit like using a very expensive and well-formulated body wash on my face. It did the job for a few weeks when I ran out of my usual cleanser, but I wouldn’t rush back. I would try other products in their range, perhaps the gel cleanser for removing makeup, as I found when testing it, it did a proper clean of all the foundation on my face.
Rhode pineapple refresh cleanser – This lasted just under a year, which I was incredibly impressed with considering I double cleanse my face almost every day unless exfoliating instead. The texture of this is more of a gel cleanser and feels extremely smooth on your face when applying. I would use only when taking off the day (sunscreen, etc.) but not when removing makeup as I found it was not as thorough at removing it. I will also warn this has what I would consider a very strong scent.
Eve Lom balm cleanser – HOLY GRAIL MAKEUP REMOVER. I love this SO MUCH. It is the absolute BEST thing at taking off makeup. This is my second tub finished, after being gifted my first, and I am not emotionally prepared to use any other balm cleanser. It is scented, a sort of Aesop-adjacent earthy scent, but not overpowering as the Rhode cleanser can be. Run, don’t walk.
Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless setting spray – A setting spray is a setting spray, right? Holds my makeup on, ensures I don’t sweat it off. Well, this one ensured my makeup remained intact on my face for 15 hours in Greek summer from the church to the reception to the dancefloor at the wedding we attended in July. Yep, it’s that good.
Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom perfume – This was a gift from my best friend, Faith, on her wedding day as a thank you for being her Maid of Honour. Part of me was saving this for my own wedding day – ambitious since I am neither engaged nor want to have a big white wedding – however, I decided using it as my scent while we’ve been travelling was special enough. I would say the scent is more perfect for autumn or spring, one of the seasons still imbued with a winter spirit, as while it’s not exactly a heavy scent, it has more body than the airy summery scents I am used to. It still smelled very sweet and now when I smell it I think of both Faith’s wedding and our summer abroad.
Go To Skin Party body wash - It appears this product may have been discontinued but nonetheless, it is an empty from this batch. A body wash that came without the soapy texture of most and paired brilliantly with my exfoliating gloves (also from Go-To). Pair with your favourite body lotion after and feel squeaky clean, like a new woman.
Love the mimosa and cardamom perfume too!
